Polite Conversations

Rick (Curse Breaker) · 2:60 · from Warrior's Way Mindset

When you're formidable, they get diplomatic.

Warrior's Way Mindset — a mentor's songs for men doing the work.

What “Polite Conversations” is about

Polite Conversations is a song about the kind of strength that never has to announce itself. The whole idea is one of Rick's most-used lines: “people become diplomatic when you're a formidable person.” Not loud, not threatening — competent, capable, settled, taking up your room without raising your hand. The verses put you in a meeting with a man who came in loud: you sit steady, you hold the line, and you watch him calm down and find his manners. The bridge says where that composure comes from — you sweat it out where nobody's watching, so you never have to show it. If you're looking for a song about quiet strength, composure under pressure, or how to handle the loud guy without becoming him, this is Rick's answer, set to a low noir groove. About “Polite Conversations”

From a recorded call, October 2026. Rick heard the first draft and said “that's a jam right there” — the chorus had earwormed him for half a day — then gave the note that made the record: a little more bass, less falsetto, because “the main badass mobster doesn't have to flex… he doesn't have to do a lot to do a lot.” Ten Covers later the register held low from the first line to the last, and Noel put Rick's own saying into both pre-choruses: “You hold the line.” The verses are the volleyball-parents story and every meeting like it — he came in loud, you stayed seated, and he sized you up and found his manners. The bridge is the price of that quiet.

The journey

  1. 01

    The Thesis

When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. Funny how quiet a room can get.

  2. 02

    Walk In Steady

Take your seat. Hands where he can see them. He came in loud — let him. Loud is a man still guessing.

  3. 03

    Hold the Line

Don't lean in, don't raise your hand. Watch him calm down; he's talking to you differently now.

  4. 04

    The Thesis, Proven

All that work, and you never broke a sweat.

  5. 05

    He Found His Manners

He's talking slower now, looking down. He can't see the wars you fought or the price of your peace.

  6. 06

    Not a Word

You hold the line. You didn't have to say a thing.

  7. 07

    The Thesis, Earned

The chorus once more — the room is quiet because of who you are, not what you said.

  8. 08

    Where the Quiet Comes From

You sweat it out where nobody's watching. Sweat more in training, bleed less in war.

  9. 09

    Good Talk

Two words and the title. The conversation stayed polite.

Lyrics

When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. Funny how quiet a room can get. When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. All that work, and you never broke a sweat. Walk in steady. Take your seat. Hands where he can see them. Clearly. He came in loud. Let him. Loud is a man still guessing. Don't lean in. Don't raise your hand. Take up your room. Don't get small. You hold the line. Watch him calm down. He's talking to you differently now. When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. Funny how quiet a room can get. When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. All that work, and you never broke a sweat. He's talking slower now. He's looking down. He sized you up. He found his manners. He can't see the wars you fought. He doesn't know the price of your peace. He's not loud anymore. You hold the line. Watch them calm down. You didn't have to say a thing. When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. Funny how quiet a room can get. When you're formidable, they get diplomatic. All that work, and you never broke a sweat. You sweat it out where nobody's watching. You get strong so you never have to show it. Sweat more in training. Bleed less in war. That's what the quiet is for. Good talk. ...Polite conversations.

About Rick (Curse Breaker)

Rick: Codename: Curse Breaker leads the Warriors Way Mindset — daily calls where men do the work out loud. He is not the biggest dog in most rooms and he knows it; what he carries instead is the posture that makes other people choose their manners. This song is the speech he gives most often, finally with a beat under it.
